One of the biggest problems with converting comic book storylines in general, and Marvel stories in particular, is the casting. In the bulk of the storylines, there are too many characters to feasibly fit in a film. A couple of lines and paint will allow a character to appear in a comic, but in the movies it's quite a different matter. But Marvel proved me wrong with their plan for bringing about the Avengers movie. Now they are tackling one of my favorite stories: Days of Future Past. Here check out the trailer:
Now, as I said, this is one of my favorite stories, but I had previously thought it would be impossible to film not only because of how many people were in it, but also because there were MULTIPLE versions of those people. It's basically TWICE the cast and I really couldn't see how it would be cost effective to a studio, let alone how to fit so many people AND have time for a story and character development in a 2 hr film. But, after the release of X-Men: First Class, a lot of those problems were removed. We had, essentially 2 casts covering the same characters, both of which had their own movies to develop the characters. So when they announced that the next film would be DOFP, I jumped for joy. It was actually feasible. The issue only came down to scheduling the cast to be there when needed! I was still a bit worried about adapting the story to film, but from the trailer it looks like they managed to keep the emotional impact of the original story. I dare say this film will be EPIC! What do you think, my dear readers? Sound off in the comments below!
This is one of the most amazing trailers I've ever seen. It gives me goosebumps! I had severe misgivings about this project. I honestly had no faith that they would pull it off correctly. But just from what I seeing here . . . color me impressed. I'm so happy to see Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan back together again, and Hugh Jackman with them to boot! And throw in James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender? INSANE!
ReplyDeleteThat's it. I have no more words. The excitement is just killing me.
I it is weird that Kofi, referred to the first three X-Men movies as “The Original Trilogy” only because I’m only used to seeing it referenced to Star Wars, but whatever, that aside this review is on par with others I have read for this movie, seems like a good at the movies this Memorial Day weekend.
