The Battle Resumes...

I wrote a post awhile back about acquiring a PS3. It's been about a month since I've had it and I must say, I'm still LOVING it. I'm now up to 4 games:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Bioshock
Prince Of Persia: Forgotten Sands
and
Ghostbusters!!

I've played all of them a little bit, but I'm focussing on Castlevania. Why? Because it's Castlevania. I'm a huge fan of the series. I've played a bunch of the games, though not all. And I've always enjoyed them. I was worried about LOS at first, but Konami did a good job with the game. Translation: I can't believe how freaking difficult this game is!!!

Now, I've been out of the video game scene for awhile, I grant you, but it shouldn't take 5 hours of battle to beat ONE boss. Who are they making these games for anyway?? People who have PS3s & XBoxes linked directly to their brains using neural jacks??  As you can probably surmise, I've beaten the first of the Lords of Shadow, a schmuck named Cornell who thought being the Lord of Lycans made him something special. But since it was such a massive battle (two game sessions, one for 2hrs and the other for 3hrs cause I had to restart the battle from the beginning), I took a break from playing. But, I'm going to start back up again tonight.

Wish me luck!

  2. LOL! I shudder to think how you'd fare against a Big Daddy in Bioshock. Those fights for me were BRUTAL!

I have zero interest in playing CV:LoS. Despite the fact that the gameplay is a ripoff of one of my favorite game series (God of War), and that the development studio behind it are the same people who are behind one of my other favorite series (Metal Gear Solid).

  3. Thank you much, AnnRita. Your well wishing is much appreciated.

I actually already faced off against a Big Daddy in Bioshock, David. The fight was over before it started, but I think since it was the first Little Sister, they made it easier. We'll see how I fare when I face another one.

For me, CV:LoS is more like a DC/Marvel type thing. There's the CV I know, a.k.a. DC, and then this entire alternate CV universe that LoS takes place in, a.k.a. Marvel. So far the story is quite compelling (but I do wish for more from Gabriel's POV), and as of this comment I'm in the foot hills of the *start Transylvanian accent* Vampire Castle, ah ah aah! *end accent*

So now we get to the Belmont clan's bread & butter: vampire killing!!

  4. Oh, yeah that first Big Daddy doesn't count. That was just where you got to sit on the sidelines and see how badass they are. But when it comes time for you to face one -- and it comes not too much farther after that -- you're going to be in a world of hurt! Put it this way, you'll never be able to put one down on just firepower alone for at least the first 3 or 4 encounters. You'll need to devise nifty booby traps and other aids to beat the first few.

Big Daddy takedowns are drawn-out, cerebral affairs. I so can't wait for you to try your hand at that. Although, you might want to take a breather and try an easier game first. :)
