Thoughts On... This Blog's Name

For a little while now, I've been getting some weird feedback about my blog. Not about the content, but about the name. Yeah, the NAME! Seriously, why is the name of a blog important?? Who really cares about what some nerd names his blog anyway, right? Well, as it turns out, some of my readers care. Which is, in a weird way, very touching. Not only do I have readers, but they care enough about the blog to actually want to make it BETTER! *sniff* I promised myself I wouldn't cry. *sniff, sniff* Now, the reason I called this blog "Deliberations of Dilking" is because Dilking is a shortened version of my middle name, Dilkingson. (Don't ask. It's a long story.) However, it turns out that "dilking" is an actual term with a particularly negative meaning according to the Urban Dictionary. Check it out:

Dilking: The act of creeping on a girl that is already talking to a guy. Also the act of trying to attempt to steal a girl from a guy using no game whatsoever.

While the "no game" part is true, I would NEVER, EVER put the moves on a girl that is with another guy. Or that another guy is trying to chat up. That goes against the whole Bro-Code. Not to mention with all the issues I have getting women, the LAST thing I'd do is screw it up for someone else!

Now given that the title of my blog seems to be supporting the act of dilking, I feel that it's a good idea to rename my blog. And so, today marks the death of "Deliberations of Dilking" and the birth of the new blog:

Reflections of Rodney

  1. I like the new name-Reflections of Rodney. I often wondered why you chose your former title. I agree that the title is important. I need to recreate my own and , so far , haven't figured out a good title. Not an easy task.

  2. Thank you for your comment, Lois! It did take me awhile to come up with the new title. I like it because it works on different levels. It's a cool title. But I still like the word "Deliberations". It conjures up images of people sitting around a table debating topics and purifying their ideas.

"Reflections" is a bit less active in my head. It feels more like a single person sitting alone thinking about the world around them. But it's still a good image to have.

Oh, good luck on finding a title for your blog! And, thanks for reading, Lois!
