The cast for this movie is amazing: Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Laurence, Amy Adams, and Jeremy Renner! Just for that alone this movie is worth watching! Here, check out the trailer:
Now, I have to be honest about something here, folks. While we all know that I'm an AVID movie buff, the reason this movie first popped on my radar is because a portion of the film was actually shot IN THE BUILDING I WORK!! Yes, that's right, for about a week and a half, there was a film production shooting a major motion picture in my building! Of course, this was during my second week at work and I was too worried about losing my job to notice anything at first, but after a couple of days, I found out about the filming going on just two floors above me. I even heard a story that Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Jennifer Laurence were actually IN the building for a couple days (even passing through the lobby with no security escort at one point), so this wasn't just some B-Roll being shot here! I wanted to go check it out, but building security being what it was, I couldn't even get on the floor with them, let alone see anything of what was being filmed. So, I did what I do best and started researching the film online, which where I found out about the story of the film.
American Hustle is based on the real story of an FBI sting operation called "ABSCAM" that was going on during the late 70s and early 80s. I think I was about 2 years old when this was going on and from what I can find out about the op itself, it was a pretty successful sting. As I said above, the cast for this is an amazingly talented set of people and from what I can see, this story is a very intense one. I love crime stories especially when they are done well. I'm not too familiar with the work of this film's director, David O. Russell, but I have seen 2 of his movies (Three Kings & Silver Linings Playbook) and I enjoyed both of them, so I'm willing to take a gamble on it. And, as a side bonus, the film comes out during Christmas, so it'll help me get through my traditional holiday blues. What do you think, my dear readers? Sound off in the comments, below!
